New step-by-step procedure aims to speed up collecting interest, penalty and compensation awarded to buyers.
MahaRERA has introduced a standard operating procedure (SOP) to fast-track the enforcement and recovery of interest, penalty and compensation that has been awarded to homebuyers but not yet paid by builders. Winning an order is one thing; getting the money is another, and this SOP is meant to make the collection stage move faster and more predictably.
What it means for you: If you've been awarded interest or a refund and the builder hasn't paid, this process is designed to help that award actually get recovered. Keep copies of your order and payment records ready, and follow up on the status of any recovery in your case. This is about making existing orders enforceable — it doesn't change what you were awarded.
