A project time extension doesn't cancel the builder's duty to pay you for delay

MahaRERA held that a promoter who missed the agreed possession date still owes interest — or a refund.
In a redevelopment matter, MahaRERA directed the promoter to hand over possession with interest for the delay, or refund the buyer, after the builder missed the timeline agreed in the sale agreement. The takeaway from the order is that getting a registration extension for the project does not, by itself, wipe out the builder's obligation for having missed the committed possession date.
What it means for you: If your builder is late against the date written in your agreement, an extension of the project's RERA timeline doesn't automatically mean you lose your right to delay interest or a refund. The date in your own agreement for sale still matters. Check what possession date your agreement actually commits to before accepting any 'the project got extended' explanation.
